Carpenter bees are non-aggressive, useful pollinators whose importance is even more important nowadays because honey bee populations are stressed, for reasons that aren't yet fully understood. Some of the possible reasons include diseases or certain pesticides when they are misused.

Whatever the reason for the honey bees' difficulties, it makes it all the more important that carpenter bees who aren't destroying wood be left alone. The males have no stingers and the females rarely sting; so if a carpenter bee is nesting in a dead tree, an old shed you wish would fall down anyway, or some other unimportant piece of wood somewhere on your property, the environmentally-responsible thing to do is to leave her alone.

If they're drilling house in your house, on the other hand, then give us a call.
