King snakes are harmless and even beneficial, but most folks would rather they not live in their houses.

This time of year, we find a lot of snakes who spent their winters in crawl spaces (or occasionally attics) because they liked the temperature. Most of the time, however, snakes go into houses because the house has a rodent problem, and the snakes are looking for a meal. Snakes in a house should always be followed up with a rodent inspection.
