Raccoon Damage to the Soffit of a House in Atlanta

Raccoon damage at a house in Atlanta

The discoloration of the edges of the hole tell me that this is not new damage. It's possible it was done last fall by a young male raccoon setting up his first home. The males usually leave their moms' places in the fall and spend the winter either alone or with other "Bachelor" males. The females usually spend their first winters with mom.
