How Flying Squirrels Got Into this House in Riverdale, Georgia

Someone replaced a lighting fixture under the soffit and left a gap in the plywood that flying squirrels used to get into the soffit

It looks to me like someone did a less-than-wonderful job replacing that lighting fixture. There are marks where the old electrical box was, and enough of a gap that flying squirrels were able to make this soffit on a house in Riverdale, Georgia their new hangar.
