Damaged Foundation Vent Allowed Mice into a House in Atlanta

The lattice in the upper left hand corner of the plastic vent are broken as is the screen behind the vent

How mice got into this house in Atlanta

It looks like the lattice on the plastic vent cover was broken in some way other than mice gnawing on it. There are no obvious nibble marks, and the lattice size is already big enough for mice to get through. Probably someone passed a pipe or wire through it at some point. The mice merely took advantage of the situation to get into this house in Atlanta.
