Mouse Damage to Pipe Insulation in Cumming, Georgia

Mice chewed through the insulation on the air conditioning refrigerant pipes in a house in Cumming Georgia

Mouse damage to pipe insulation in Cumming

This damage is more serious than it looks because it seriously impairs the ability of the air conditioner to cool the home. The reason for that insulation is to prevent the refrigerant from absorbing ambient heat, which is necessary because the refrigerant has limited heat-absorbing capacity. The more heat it absorbs from areas that don't need to be cooled (such as an attic), the less heat it can absorb from the living area.

The cost to replace that insulation is only a few dollars. It's very inexpensive. But the increased cooling costs from that damage could easily total in the hundreds over time.
