Open Sewer Vent Allowed Norway Rats into an Attic in Atlanta

Sewer vent pipe is open into the attic rather than passing through the roof and allowed rats into the attic of a house in Atlanta

How Norway rats got into an attic in Atlanta

It's a bit unusual (but by no means unheard of) to find Norway rats in attics. Although they can climb when need be, it's not their most-impressive skill. They're burrowers by nature and usually stay close to the ground.

In this case, however, someone made it easier for them by running the sewer vent up into the attic of this house in Atlanta rather than venting it outdoors. The rats just braced their feet and their backs against the inside of the pipe and climbed on up into the attic.
