Why this House in Conyers, Georgia has Rats in the Crawl Space

Rats chewed both a clothes dryer vent and a flimsy metal screen covering an opening on the outside wall of a brick house in Conyers Georgia

How rats got into this house in Conyers

Now let me explain what happened here to y'all. The rats chewed through both that screen over the opening in the wall and the plastic clothes dryer vent. I can't say for certain which one they gnawed through first, but my guess would be the dryer vent.

The reason I say that is because they also chewed through the flexible part of the hose and got into the laundry room, probably because they hit a dead end at the clothes dryer. From there, I'm guessing that they chewed their way out of the crawl space through that screen. Of course, that's only a guess. Only the rats know for sure, and they ain't telling.

The good news is that the dryer wasn't running when the rats got to the blower fan. When that happens, it becomes some unfortunate soul's job to scrape rat guts off the blower fan. That's not a job anyone in their right mind wants to do. (Don't ask me how I know.)

What we'll do is replace the dryer vent with one that's more rodent-proof, replace that old screen with a proper foundation vent, trap and remove any rats still in the house, and seal up the whole house to make it rat-proof.
