Bat hanging from an attic door in Atlanta

The homeowner was surprised to be greeted by this bat when they opened the attic access door. They wisely called us to take care of the bat problem in the attic of this house in Atlanta.

Except in the case of a single bat that wanders into a house and can be coaxed out an open door or window, bat control is a job best done by professionals. Aside from bat exclusion being a challenging job in its own right, bats have a high enough incidence of rabies that in any given colony, there's a pretty good chance that at least a few bats are rabid. There also are health risks associated with bat guano, which must be removed and handled as biohazardous waste.

There's also the possibility that bat bugs (parasitic insects that are very similar to bed bugs) may migrate into the living area looking for a meal when their preferred hosts are removed. Once that happens, bat bugs are every bit as difficult to eradicate as bed bugs are.

We'll seal the bats out of the attic of the house in Atlanta, clean up and properly dispose of the guano, inspect for bat bugs and treat the problem if necessary, and remove and replace any contaminated insulation.
