Raccoon Trapped and Removed from the Attic of a House in Johns Creek, Georgia
Raccoon removed from a house in Johns Creek
This raccoon was born last year and spent its first winter on its own, which is pretty common. Most male raccoons leave the nest in the fall and spend their first winters either alone or with other young male, "bachelor" raccoons.
A great many of the raccoons that we trap and remove from homes in the spring are "adolescents" who are living on their own, but who haven't yet learned to be wary of humans setting out traps. That's why this raccoon is relatively calm. It's not quite sure whether to be afraid or grateful. But as they grow up, raccoons become decidedly more ornery. An older raccoons would be snarling and trying in any way it could to get out of the trap, not calmly posing for a photo.
This raccoon was removed from the attic of a house in Johns Creek, Georgia. We'll seal the house to keep raccoons out from now on.
