Carpenter bee laying eggs in wood in Monticello
Tim sent this video of a carpenter bee going about her business at a house in Monticello, Georgia.
Female carpenter bees rarely sting, and the males don't have stingers. They're also beneficial pollinators. If they're drilling holes in a shed you wish would fall down anyway, there's no need to treat them. They can do serious damage to wooden houses, furniture, and playground equipment, however, and should be treated in those cases.
