Copperhead snake outside a house in Johns Creek
It looks like this copperhead was under a pine tree, judging by the needles on the ground.
Copperheads are one of the venomous snake species found throughout Georgia, so they really don't belong in areas where people may accidentally encounter them. Having harmless, non-venomous snakes living around your home is more a matter of personal preference; but venomous snakes like copperheads and rattlesnakes generally should be removed from areas where people live, work, and play.
After this picture was taken, we removed this copperhead snake from the grounds of this Atlanta home and relocated it elsewhere, where it would feel more welcome.
