Flying Squirrel Damage in the Attic of a House in Hoover, Alabama

Flying squirrels gnawed a hole about four inches high by two inches wide and exposed the inner insulation in the insulated wallboard in the attic of a house in Hoover Alabama

Flying squirrel damage in an attic in Hoover

Flying squirrels do pretty much the same kind of damage as gray squirrels do. The main difference is the size of the holes they make, which tends to be smaller.

This flying squirrel damage in the attic of a house in Hoover, Alabama was an exception. The hole is much larger than a flying squirrel usually would make. I suspect it's because that piece of insulated wallboard is backed by something solid, so the flying squirrel kept hitting a dead end.

What we'll do is trap and relocate the flying squirrels, repair the damage, and seal the roof to keep them out of the attic.
