Roof Rat Gap into the Attic of a House in Roswell, Georgia

Gap formed by wood rot on the trim where it meets the shingles at a roof junction allowed roof rats to get into the attic of a house in Roswell Georgia

How rats got into the attic of a house in Roswell

This is basically a case of roof rats using wood rot to get into an attic. The wooden trim against the shingles rotted at a roof junction, which allowed rats to easily get into the attic of this house in Roswell, Georgia.

I'm not sure what the white spot on the shingles is from. It's probably paint. It could also be tracking powder from a previous, unsuccessful attempt to solve the rat problem.

We don't use tracking powders, nor or any other rodenticides, for rat control in homes. We do it all non-chemically.
