Squirrels Gnawed Their Way into the Attic of this House in Atlanta

Gray squirrel hole into an attic in Atlanta
The squirrels started with the existing gap between the roof sheathing and fascia, and gnawed it into a hole fit for a squirrel.
The lack of staining and the freshness of the gnaw marks tell me that this is a new squirrel problem, which is a good thing. It doesn't change the squirrel-removal or squirrel-proofing phases of the job very much, but it makes the clean-up phase much easier and may avoid the need to replace all the insulation. The longer squirrels live in an attic, the more of a mess they make; and the more work has to be done to make the attic healthy again.
