Squirrel damage to a heating duct in Macon

When squirrels or other rodents get into homes, one kind of damage that they do is to insulated heating and cooling duct. This is an example of the worst kind of damage: when the animals actually get inside the ducts.

Aside from contaminating the entire HVAC system, the squirrels can macerate themselves if they get as far as the blower. That usually requires replacing the fan and motor and cleaning the furnace to remove the bits of dead rodent from the system. At a minimum, some unlucky person will have to scrape the remains off the fan and inspect the furnace and the duct system.

I'm not sure how much of that will be necessary at this house. For now, we're focusing on trapping and removing the squirrels from this Macon, Georgia home and sealing up the gaps in the roof to keep squirrels out of the attic. The squirrel damage assessment and repairs will be next, once the squirrels are gone.
