Construction Gap Allowed Mice into the Attic of a House in Atlanta
Mouse gap into the attic of an Atlanta home
We've been getting a lot of calls for mouse-removal from attics lately.
Lots of people understandably wonder how mice get into an attic in the first place. The answer in almost all cases is that they climbed up there. Mice can climb most exterior building materials with little difficulty. They can also climb up inside wall voids and downspouts, the latter being the way they got into this house. They climbed up inside the downspout and into the rain gutter, and from there got into the attic through a gap between the roof sheathing and fascia.
We'll close up that gap as part of our non-chemical mouse-control plan for this house in Atlanta. Trapping and removing the mice from the house, and sealing the gaps around the house to prevent "new" mice from getting in, is both the safest and the most-effective way to solve a mouse problem in a house.
