Water Rot Allowed Mice into a House in Stone Mountain, Georgia

The bottom half inch of the vertical garage door trim rotted away due to water damage which allowed mice into a Stone Mountain Georgia home.

What happened here was that the person who installed the door trim ran it all the way to the concrete. Over time, the bottom of the wooden trim rotted away due to ordinary rainwater, which allowed mice into the house.

The proper way to install wooden trim is to leave a gap at the bottom, and fill the gap with a waterproof (and rodent-proof) caulking or filler. That prevents both water damage and rodent problems. It's also what we'll be doing to keep mice out of this Stone Mountain, Georgia home.
