High Wire-Walking Roof Rats Got into the Attic of this Athens, Georgia Home

Aerial wires attached to a brick house in Athens Georgia right under a gap in the soffit trim allowed roof rats to walk along the wires into the attic.

Roof rats walked the wires into a house in Athens

Most rodents have excellent balance; and aerial wires are one of the most common ways that roof rats, squirrels, flying squirrels, and occasionally mice get into attics. The fact that these wires ran right under a gap between the soffit and the brick wall allowed roof rats to simply run along the wires and right into the attic of this house in Athens, Georgia.

We're setting traps to quickly and safely remove the rats from the attic without using pesticides. We'll also rodent-proof the roof to prevent future infestations.
