Roof rat tail prints in Tuscaloosa
One of the ways (and probably the easiest way) to tell roof rat prints from squirrel prints is the tail marks. Squirrels usually keep their tails held high, whereas rats drag their tails behind them.
The tail told by the dust in this picture was of a roof rat infestation in the attic of this house in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. rat control technicians are already on the scene non-chemically treating the infestation using trapping and removal. They're also pest-proofing the roof to keep rodents and other nuisance animals and wildlife out of the attic.
